Once practical and useful, these structures and objects give hints of a past and a former life. They are discarded and rest in the outskirts of towns, where they have found a new purpose and use in the landscape, adding to the form and beauty of the fjords. In a time of restrictions, swimming in the sea with her three friends and documenting her swims became the antidote; freedom and an abandonment of rules. The connection Giita had with the women she swam with was vital to the project and to her mental health during this time.
